My name is Jaskirat Singh, and I was born and raised in Budhlada, Punjab. My musical journey began at the tender age of six, guided by the constant encouragement and support of my family, who have always been my pillar of strength. With their belief in me, I started learning music from local teachers in my hometown, taking my first steps into the world of Gurmat Sangeet.

As I grew older, I had the privilege of training under some of the most esteemed teachers in Gurmat Sangeet. My formal training began with Principal Sukhwant Singh Ji at Jawaddi Taksal, followed by learning under Ragi Lal Singh Ji from Dhanaula, Punjab. I also had the honor of learning Taus from Ustad Bindu Ji at Jawaddi Taksal. A turning point in my journey came when I started training under Ustad Padma Shri Prof. Kartar Singh Ji and Ustad Sukhwinder Singh Ji at Gurmat Sangeet Academy (SGPC), Sri Anandpur Sahib.

After completing a three-year Gurmat Sangeet course in 2020, my life took an unexpected turn when my father passed away. In that difficult time, I couldn’t leave my mother alone, and although I had a deep desire to travel the world and do Kirtan Sewa as a Ragi, it wasn’t possible at that moment. However, I still wanted to stay connected with Kirtan Sewa, so I decided to start an academy where I could serve by spreading Gurmat Sangeet to others.

I began providing classes to children and young ones eager to learn Gurmat Sangeet. Soon after, I started receiving calls and messages from students who couldn’t attend offline classes, which inspired me to offer online classes. As word spread, students from different countries joined, and day by day, Gurbal Gurmat Sangeet Academy grew into a global platform where students from across the world now learn both online and offline.

In addition to my training, I hold a degree in Music Vocal from Punjabi University. Today, with the blessings of my family and mentors, I feel proud to share my knowledge as a Tanti Saaj teacher at Dasmesh Gurmat Academy, Surrey. My mission is to help students discover the beauty of Gurmat Sangeet and to preserve this sacred tradition for generations to come.

It is my heartfelt desire that Gurbal Gurmat Sangeet Academy serves as a platform for aspiring musicians to connect with their roots, embrace the rich heritage of Sikh music, and experience the spiritual depth it offers.
